HARROD — Allen East pulled away from Hardin Northern in the fourth quarter Saturday on its way to a 64-51 nonconference boys basketball victory over the Polar Bears.

ST. MARYS — Upper Scioto Valley’s offense was held in check in the first half Saturday and the Rams couldn’t close the early gap in a 51-34 boys basketball road loss to St. Marys.

ADA — Ada had to hold off an Allen East rally Friday night and made enough plays late in the game to emerge with a 61-54 Northwest Conference boys basketball victory. “For 29 minutes we played really well, but the last three minutes we left the pressure bother us,” Ada coach Chris Sautter said.

McGUFFEY — The Upper Scioto Valley boys basketball team overpowered Lehman Catholic on Friday night, knocking down seven shots from long range and outscoring their opponent 33-19 in the first half. The 62-43 Northwest Central Conference win for the host Rams is their ninth on the season, putting them at 9-6 overall, 3-2 in the NWCC.

BELLEFONTAINE — Ben Logan dominated the third quarter Friday night on its way to a 68-55 boys basketball victory over Greenon to snap a seven-game losing streak.

LIMA — Shawnee dominated the second half Friday night to pull away from Kenton for a 59-30 Indian victory in Western Buckeye League boys basketball. Shawnee (11-5) outscored the Wildcats 36-6 in the second half.

MOUNT BLANCHARD — Arcadia defeated Riverdale 60-49 in boys basketball Friday night.

ST. PARIS — Ben Logan defeated Graham 2,671-2,308 in boys bowling Friday night. Mitchel Johnson led the Raiders with a two-game series of 514, which Ben Logan coach Stephen Wenger called, “very impressive.” Logan Wenger rolled a 410 series. Logan Woolley added a series of 358 and Tyler Nicholas bowled a series of 345. Colton Jones had a 225 game.

It wasn’t the way Kenton girls basketball coach Ryan Miller wanted his team to close out a game, but in the end the Wildcats were victorious. The Wildcats blew a double-digit second-half lead, needed a buzzer-beating layup to force overtime and then responded in the extra session for a 66-64 victory over Shawnee in Western Buckeye League play.

MOUNT VICTORY — The Ridgemont girls basketball team struggled to find its offense Thursday night. The good news for the Gophers was their defense was able to hold down Riverside, at least until the fourth quarter.
