ADA — Ohio Northern rallied from an early deficit Thursday night, but could not come back from two goals down in the second half. The No. 24 Polar Bears fell in the first round of the NCAA III Tournament 3-2 to Carthage (Wis.).

Farmer to continue softball, academic career at ODU

MOUNT BLANCHARD — Riverdale High School senior Taylor Farmer will continue her athletic career at the collegiate level. Farmer signed a national letter of intent to play softball at Ohio Dominican University on Wednesday during a ceremony at Riverdale High School.

Kenton’s Bartlett named district coach of year

After winning 11 matches total in the last six years, Kenton boys soccer coach Jamie Bartlett led the team to a .500 record in 2015. The Wildcats went 7-7-4, scored 40 goals and allowed 32. That comes one year after Kenton allowed 78 goals and scored 14.

Raiders put seven on division’s first team

After finishing second in the Central Buckeye Conference Mad River Division, Ben Logan had seven players named to the division’s first team. The Raiders (4-1 Mad River) had two of the five first-team receivers in senior Jarrett Matthews and junior Josh Whitten.

ONU grad back in NFL

ADA — Former Ohio Northern All-American Jason Trusnik is back in the NFL after singing a free agent contract with the Minnesota Vikings on Tuesday. Trusnik is an eight-year veteran of the National Football League after spending two seasons with the New York Jets, two seasons with the Cleveland Browns and three seasons with the Miami Dolphins.

ONU men win OAC soccer title

ADA — The Ohio Northern men's soccer team defeated John Carroll Saturday evening to win the OAC Tournament title outscoring the Blue Streaks 4-3 in penalty kicks at Kerscher Stadium. ONU will receive an automatic bid into the NCAA Tournament.

Polar Bears fall in shootout, 4-3

BEXLEY — Ohio Northern freshman Sarah Puntel scored twice in a 5:44 span late in the second half, but ultimately Capital won on penalty kicks in the finals of the Ohio Athletic Conference Women's Soccer Tournament finals on Saturday night.
