Kenton senior Aarin Tillman earned first-team all-Western Buckeye League recognition for the 2015 football season. Tillman was selected as a first-team defensive lineman.

ASHLAND — The Ashland University football team begins its quest for a national championship at home against Grand Valley State in an NCAA Division II Super Region 4 quarterfinal on Saturday at noon. Several local players are on the team. Tristan Reichelderfer and Austin Phillips, both of Kenton, are defensive ends for the Eagles.

Kenton boys soccer coach Jamie Bartlett was working the sideline one more time this season in a high school game Saturday.

ADA — The Ohio Northern football team received an at-large bid to the 2015 NCAA III Playoffs on Sunday. The Polar Bears travel to Franklin (Ind.) where they will be taking on the Grizzles in the first round of the Playoffs.

ADA — Ohio Northern rallied from an early deficit Thursday night, but could not come back from two goals down in the second half. The No. 24 Polar Bears fell in the first round of the NCAA III Tournament 3-2 to Carthage (Wis.).

MOUNT BLANCHARD — Riverdale High School senior Taylor Farmer will continue her athletic career at the collegiate level. Farmer signed a national letter of intent to play softball at Ohio Dominican University on Wednesday during a ceremony at Riverdale High School.
