Ada beats Allen East to clinch playoff berth

ADA — Ada knew it needed a win Friday night to assure itself of a playoff berth. The Bulldogs also wanted to end the season on a positive note after dropping two straight games. Ada (6-4) did just that, using a bend-but-don’t-break defense and a key special teams play to defeat Allen East 21-6.

CELINA — The Kenton football coaches and players have had a goal of stringing together four solid quarters of football on the same night all year. On Friday night, the Wildcats came close to getting what they were after. They held a 12-point lead over host Celina with just over 10 minutes left in the game.

Indian Lake tops Raiders in Mad River title contest

BELLEFONTAINE — Indian Lake took a large half-time lead and then held on to defeat Ben Logan 48-32 to win the Central Buckeye Conference’s Mad River Division on Friday night. The Lakers, 7-2 overall finish Mad River play at 5-0, a game ahead of the Raiders, who ended at 6-4 and 4-1.

USV’s Hipsher looks to reach state in his third race of season

McGUFFEY — After a full season of golfing for the Upper Scioto Valley Rams, freshman Brady Hipsher changed gears and has quickly taken to cross country, earning a spot in the Division III regional tournament. This Saturday in Tiffin, Hipsher will go up against some of the best runners the state has to offer at the D-III level in hopes of advancing to the state meet.

Kenton looks to end season on high note

It is a football program that is used to winning, but the Kenton Wildcats haven’t been able to celebrate many victories this season. The Wildcats will try to end the 2015 campaign on a positive note as they travel to Celina for their season finale on Friday night.
