Five Polar Bears honored by NWCC

After finishing second in the Northwest Central Conference, five Hardin Northern volleyball players earned all-NWCC recognition. Sophomore Shelby Alloway and junior Holly Wilson were both selected to the first team. Senior setter Ashton Stevenson earned second-team recognition.

ST. MARYS — Kenton was eliminated from the girls soccer postseason Monday night by St. Marys. Courtney Helmlinger scored in the first half for the Roughriders, the only goal of the contest.

MOUNT BLANCHARD — Riverdale boys soccer coach Jon Hayfield saw almost everything he wanted to from his team Saturday night in the Falcons’ regular-season finale. “I was about 95 percent fully impressed and that is a rare utterance out of my mouth,” Hayfield said after a 2-1 victory over Ottoville.

Wildcats topped

VAN BUREN — Van Buren defeated Kenton 2-0 on Saturday in nonconference girls soccer. The Black Knights (11-4-1) held a 6-1 advantage in shots on goal and a 4-1 advantage in corner kicks.

Mouser finishes 29th at state golf

COLUMBUS — Things went better for Ridgemont senior Devin Mouser on Day 2 of the Division III state golf tournament Saturday. After shooting an 89 on Friday, Mouser shot 84 to finish with a score of 173 and finish 29th out of 72 golfers.

Kenton girls place 7th at WBL meet

VAN WERT — Kenton placed seventh out of 10 teams Saturday in the girls portion of the Western Buckeye League cross country meet. The Wildcats finished with 172 points, 54 ahead of eighth-place Ottawa-Glandorf.
