COLUMBUS GROVE — Columbus Grove plated eight runs in the first inning and was in control the rest of the way in a 14-4 Northwest Conference softball win over Ada on Thursday afternoon.

McGUFFEY — For the second time this week, Lehman Catholic finished strong against the Upper Scioto Valley baseball team, scoring 12 runs in the top of the sixth inning on the way to an 18-0 victory over the Rams in Northwest Central Conference play on Thursday.

McGUFFEY — Upper Scioto Valley plated 13 runs in the third inning and added eight more in the fourth on the way to a 24-8 rout of Ridgemont in a Northwest Central Conference baseball game on Wednesday.

LEWISTOWN — When Austin Cline took the mound Wednesday, he knew that one mistake could result in the first conference loss of the season for the Ben Logan baseball team. The game was suspended in the middle of the eighth inning April 6 and when play resumed, Cline entered the game in relief.

With graduation approaching, Kenton High School senior Sylas Smith has been spending a lot of time working out. Smith is doing a lot of work with his own body weight, rather than lifting weights.

Kenton High School will be represented by three players in the Ohio High School Football Coaches Association’s North South All-Star Classic on Saturday.

BELLEFONTAINE — Benjamin Logan will be hosting a fundraiser basketball game on Saturday with the Driven Foundation where 12 former Ohio State football players will be playing basketball and signing autographs for all fans in attendance.

BRYAN — Kenton tennis won one of three singles matches and both doubles matches to advance in the OTCA tournament. The only singles winner for the Wildcats was Dale Oates, who was a 6-1, 6-2 victor over Josh Stark in the No. 1 match.

McCOMB — Riverdale blasted McComb early and often on its way to a 13-0 five-inning Blanchard Valley Conference softball win on Wednesday. The Falcons (9-3, 5-0 BVC) hit three home runs and had 15 total hits.
