VAN WERT — Kaylee Burd hurled a shutout and had the game’s only RBI in the fourth inning to lead the Kenton softball team to a 1-0 victory over Van Wert on Tuesday.

MOUNT BLANCHARD — Riverdale’s Carroll Pauley not only broke her school record in the discus during the Falcons home quad meet on Tuesday with Arlington, Liberty-Benton and New Riegle. The Falcon sophomore shattered it.

SIDNEY — The Upper Scioto Valley softball team took advantage of the inability of Lehman Catholic’s pitchers to find the strike zone as the Rams walked 27 times on the way to an 18-2 five-inning Northwest Central Conference victory on Tuesday.

VAN WERT — Kenton got wins from its top singles player and top doubles team on Tuesday night. The Wildcats were unable to pick up a third victory anywhere else as they fell to Van Wert 3-2 in Western Buckeye League tennis play.

BELLEFONTAINE — Ben Logan won both the boys and girls sides of its home quad track meet Tuesday. The Raider girls edged Ada 83-78 for first place. Lima Central Catholic was third with 48 points.

COLUMBUS — Hardin County native Dean Pees was honored by Ohio State University with its “A Tribute to Ohio’s Finest” award at a ceremony at OSU on Friday.

RIDGEWAY — The Upper Scioto Valley boys won 11 events on the way to a first-place finish in a five-school track meet at Ridgemont on Monday afternoon.

McGUFFEY — Riverdale jumped out to a big lead Monday and held off Upper Scioto Valley as it tried to rally, giving the Falcons an 11-6 non-conference baseball victory.

BLUFFTON — Kenton overcame the windy conditions Monday night to defeat Bluffton 4-1 in tennis action.

ADA — The Ada softball team struck early and cruised to an 8-3 victory over Lincolnview in Northwest Conference softball Monday.
