Several area youth represented the Kenton Elks Lodge 157 in the Elks Northwest District Soccer Shoot last Saturday at the Emory Adams Fields in Findlay.

The major league Braves defeated the Pirates 18-13 in Kenton Little League play on Tuesday night. Hitters for the Braves were Raleigh Newman, Tayvion Glispie, and Jack Whitmer with doubles; while Oliver Sneary, Carson Bash, Micah Bowman and Zaiden Lawrence all chipped in hits as well.

BELLEFONTAINE —The Ben Logan girls basketball program has a new leader. During its regular meeting on Monday night, the Ben Logan Board of Education hired Andy Schwochow as the district’s head girls basketball coach.

Doug Camper was the weekly winner for the second week in a row in senior league play at Memorial Parl Golf Course. Camper was followed by Dick Cannode and Paul Hatcher, who tied for second. Camper’s victory vaulted him into second place in the overall standings. Norm Newman continues to lead and Dick Cannode has moved up to third place. The weekly skills winner was Tom Myers.

The Orioles defeated the Tigers 9-5 on Friday night. Hitting for the Orioles was Landon Miller with a single and a triple, Zayden Kennedy with 2 hits, LeRoy Hites with a single and a double, Zach Eissinger with a triple and home run and Gabe Mosley-Reed with two home runs.

The Trophy Bassmasters competed in their second club tournament of the season at Alum Creek north of Columbus. There were 15 members that competed for eight hours each, with 12 members recording at least 1 keeper bass.

The second farm Marlins defeated the Reds 6-5 in Kenton Little League action on Thursday. Hitting for the Marlins were Carson Grogan with 2 doubles and a single; Channing Tillman with a double and 2 singles; Mason Smith and Ayden Albert with a double and a single each; Jase Burton, Jace Broadstone, Kellen Holland, Weston Connolly, Zakk Spearman and Kaelynn Stahler all with singles.

BELLEFONTAINE — An OHSAA approved volleyball officials class will be held in Bellefontaine beginning July 9. The class will prepare students to officiate junior high and high school volleyball matches this fall.
