Little league: May 21, 2019

The second farm Marlins defeated the Tigers 6-0 on Monday afternoon. Hitting for the Marlins was Kellen Holand with 2 triples and a single, Weston Connolly with a double and single, Jase Burton and Bryson Shaffer with a double each, Ayden Albert, Carson Grogan and Zak Spearman with 2 singles each and Makavin Woodruff, Channing Tillman and Jordan Hoel with singles.

Swing thoughts: May 21, 2019

The team of Brian McFadden, Dean Brim, Jeff Butcher, Lew Hanna and Tami McFadden sits in first place in the Memorial Park Golf Course Spring League with a score of 23 under. In second place at 22 under is the team of Paul Coker, Reg Sampson, Bryant Piper, Andy Tudor and Joni Rensing with 22 under and in third is the team of Brad Hanna, Todd Hayter, Doug Wright, Don Dodds and Judy Brim at 17 under.

Ada’s Matson, USV’s Hipsher top list of area regional qualifiers

FINDLAY — A pair of area athletes won district titles at the Division III District track meet at Findlay High School on Saturday. After being injured most of the year and unable to throw until the Northwest Conference meet a week ago, Ada’s Noah Matson claimed a district championship in the shot put with a toss of 51-0 3/4.

Lady Raiders claim district crown

TIPP CITY — Ben Logan rallied from two deficits to defeat East Clinton 5-4 to win a Division II District Championship on Saturday afternoon. The Raiders overcame deficits of 2-0 and 4-3 as they rallied for the tying run in the bottom of the sixth inning before getting the game-winner on an RBI single by Haley Wilson in the bottom of the seventh.

Raiders successful at Graham district

ST. PARIS — The Ben Logan boys and girls track teams had several athletes qualify for regional competition during the Division II district track and field meet at Graham on Saturday. Bryson Tipton led the way for the Raider boys, placing second in the 1,600 run in a time 4:41.96. The top four in each event qualified for the regional meet in Piqua, which takes place on Thursday and Saturday.

BOWLING GREEN — With all three of its competitors bowing out in the first round, the Ada tennis team didn’t have the type of day it wanted Thursday at the Division III district tournament at Bowling Green State University. Even so, Bulldog mentor Cody Hurley said his returning players picked up valuable experience in the competition.

HN, Riverdale relays; several individuals advance to regionals

Clean handoff featured

FINDLAY — Several individuals and a pair of area relay teams punched their tickets to next week’s regional track meet during district competition in Findlay on Thursday. Riverdale’s Tayler Ashburn advanced with a second place finish in the high jump. Her leap of 5-0 was only topped by Arlington’s Hannah Willow, who had a jump of 5-6. Hardin Northern’s Renee Newton also earned a regional spot in the high jump with a leap of 4-10 for a fourth place effort.
