Swing thoughts: June 17, 2019 The weekly winner in the Tuesday Senior League at Memorial Park Golf Course was Wayne Moon. Mike Fink was second and John Connolly was third. Norm Newman continues to be the season leader and Doug Camper is still in second place. Wayne Moon’s victory this week moved him into third place. Kenton AD Joey Day moving to Marysville After two years in the district, Kenton City Schools athletic director Joey Day is moving on. Day confirmed Friday that he has accepted the position of athletic director at Marysville High School. The move is pending approval of the Marysville Board of Education on June 20. Read More

KHS cheerleaders to host mini-camp July 29-Aug. 1 The 2019 Kenton High School mini cheer clinic for students in grades K-8 will be held July 29-Aug. 1 on the high school lawn and inside the gymnasium. Bassmasters have big day on Lake Erie The Trophy Bassmasters continued their 2019 fishing season as they traveled to West Harbor on Lake Erie for one of the most anticipated events of the year. For one tournament a year the club uses the same scoring system as the popular Major League Fishing series on TV. Every bass 12 inches and over is recorded and scored then immediately released during the tournament day giving each angler unlimited numbers they are allowed to catch and count toward their daily total. Brett Purcell, who is the athletic director at Waynesfield-Goshen High School, was selected as the Athletic Administrator of the Year by the Ohio Interscholastic Athletic Administrators Association (OIAAA). Little league: June 13, 2019 The major league Braves defeated the Red Sox 25-1 Wednesday night on Pepsi Field. Carson Bash went the distance on the hill for the Braves giving up just two hits, while also chipping in with a double and a single at the plate. Zaiden Lawrence rocked a triple, while Karsen Sprang launched a double. Bam Bam Wilkinson ripped two shots down the left field line for a double and a triple. Other hitters for the Braves included Xavier Gammon, Oliver Sneary, Jack Whitmer, Micah Bowman, Tayvion Glispie, Gavin Sealscott and Raleigh Newman with singles. Read More
