Kenton had four players recognized on the All-Western Buckeye League softball team. Earning first team recognition for the Wildcats was senior third baseman Jenna Clum.

Ridgemont and Upper Scioto Valley both had one player selected to the first-team All-Northwest Central Conference baseball team released on Tuesday. For the Rams, senior pitcher and infielder Jason Moots received first team recognition, while for Ridgemont sophomore pitcher Cole McKinley was chosen.

Kenton High School will hold its spring sports awards night at 7 p.m. Tuesday in the gymnasium. Athletes that participated in baseball, softball, boys tennis and track and field will be recognized.

The weekly winner in the Senior League was Marv Sallee. There was a three-way tie for second place between Roger Crowe, John Hatcher and Wayne Moon.

The Trophy Bassmasters of Kenton had a very productive tournament on Lake Erie and its surrounding harbors recently. Sixteen anglers brought in 72 bass of at least 14 inches in length with a total weight of 171.62 pounds. All were released alive.

DEFIANCE — Kenton girls sprinter Hannah Holland and the boys relay team of Malik Jett, Hayden Hicks, Jayden Brown and Noah Thibaut qualified for regionals at Friday’s Division II district competition in Defiance.

The Heart of Ohio Junior Golf Association is reminding junior golfers of Hardin, Crawford, Delaware, Marion, Morrow, Union and Wyandot Counties to plan now and send in entries for its schedule of events in June and July.

FINDLAY — Upper Scioto Valley’s Megan Carey had a good start in the Division III district track meet at Findlay High School on Thursday afternoon. The Lady Ram senior qualified for next week’s regional meet in Tiffin with a second place finish in the high jump with a leap of 5-2.

Meadow Cromer scored the only point for the Ridgemont girls track team on Thursday, as she placed eighth in the high jump with a leap of 4-10 at the Division III district competition in Bucyrus on Thursday.

SPRINGFIELD — Two big innings were all Kenton Ridge needed to pull away for a 9-2 win over Ben Logan in Division II district semifinal matchup on Thursday afternoon. The host Cougars responded to a first inning Ben Logan run with three runs in the second inning and six more in the third on the way to the victory.
