Great season for Pioneers comes to a halt (w/photo gallery) Posted on January 29, 2024 0 All great things must endThe Hardin County Pioneers Special Olympics basketball team poses for a photo after an exciting season came to an end Saturday with a tough loss to Crawford County.Times photo/Richard Katterjohn The Hardin County Pioneers closed the gap with a strong fourth quarter, but ultimately fell 46-36 to Crawford County in a season-ending game Saturday at Kenton Elementary School. The Pioneers led 11-10 after one then didn’t score at all in the second quarter to go into the half down 29-11. They put up 13 points in the third quarter and 12 in the fourth quarter to shorten the deficit. Jake Seagrave led the way for the Pioneers with a team-high 16 points. Josh Gammon, Paul Lifer and Trent Daniels all had four points apiece. Grady Schwartz, Brie Truman, Bella Dray and Hailey Hines each had two points. Crawford County’s Danny Shambaugh scored a game-high 21 points. Chad Teneyck chipped in 12 points. Alan Burkhart added five points.
