ODOT announces plans for the week LIMA — District One of the Ohio Department of Transportation has announced its schedule for work within Hardin County for the week of August 26. State Route 81 between the western village limits of Ada and township Road 55, within the village of Ada, will be restricted to one lane through the work zone for pavement repairs being done in preparation for pavement resurfacing. The project also includes installation of curb ramps and concrete sidewalks within the village of Ada. Work is being performed by Bluffton Paving, Bluffton. Read More

Hardin County’s jobless rate up Hardin County’s unemployment rate jumped to 5.2% in July, the highest among area counties. According to a report from the Ohio Bureau of Labor Market Information released on Tuesday, the county had a labor force of 13,900 with 13,200 people employed and 700 jobless. Read More
Ohio Northern receives $200,000 grant for its nursing program ADA -- Ohio Northern University has received a $200,000 Nurse Education Grant Program grant from the Ohio Board of Nursing for the 2019-2021 grant cycle. Funds from the grant will be used to increase enrollment and diversity of students in the BSN program. High-fidelity and virtual reality simulation training equipment will also be purchased with the grant funds in an effort to appeal to prospective students and offer technologically advanced lab experiences to current students. KCS board OKs 1.5% raises for administrators, supervisors, staff The Kenton Board of Education approved 1.5 percent raises for the 2019-2020 school year for administrators, supervisors and classified staff not part of a bargaining unit at its meeting Monday night.
