Lady ‘Cats outscored by Shawnee, 56-32

LIMA — Shawnee outscored Kenton in three of the four quarters, including 19-6 in the first eight minutes, on the way to a 56-32 win over the Wildcats in Western Buckeye League girls basketball action on Monday night. Hannah Holland netted 12 points and Jenna Manns added 8 to lead the Wildcats. Tessa Jordan paced Shawnee with 18 points. Trinity Gearing added 11.

Eikenbary claims 220-pound WBL title

WAPAKONETA — Noah Eikenbary won all three of his matches to claim the 220-pound championship at the Western Buckeye League wrestling tournament on Saturday. Eikenbary, a junior who was second last year and fourth in 2017, becomes the fourth Wildcat wrestler to win a league title, joining Dylan Castle (2015), Gabe King (2009) and Chris Arnold (2009).

Riverdale’s Thane Gallegos (left in top photo) and Ethan Shane (left in bottom photo) compete in the Blanchard Valley Conference wrestling tournament on Saturday. Gallegos ended up third at 145 pounds, while Shane did not place at 170 pounds.

4th quarter rally pushes Kenton past Bluffton

BLUFFTON — Kenton overcame an 11-point deficit entering the fourth quarter to rally for a 66-65 victory over Bluffton in a non-league boys basketball game on Saturday. Jaron Sharp had a game-high 29 points and Jayden Cornell added 24 to pace the Wildcats, who trailed 17-6 after one quarter, 32-21 at halftime and 49-38 after the third eight minutes.

Fairbanks pushes past BL

BELLEFONTAINE — Fairbanks rallied from a five-point deficit entering the fourth quarter for a 52-51 win over Ben Logan in a non-league boys basketball contest on Saturday night. The Raiders led 13-11 after eight minutes, 28-24 at halftime and 42-37 after three quarters before the visiting Panthers rallied in the final stanza winning on a 12-foot fadeaway that Cross Hackathorne banked in as time expired.

USV girls cruise past HSA

McGUFFEY — The Upper Scioto Valley girls basketball team defeated the Horizon Science Academy 52-8 in a non-league girls basketball contest on Saturday afternoon. Hailey Martin had a game-high 21 points and Allison Moore added 17 points and 10 rebounds to lead the Rams, who improve to 3-17 on the season.

Lady Polar Bears pick up 13th win of season

NEW CONCORD — The Ohio Northern women's basketball team finished its regular season with a 75-62 victory at Muskingum on Saturday afternoon at Performance Court. The Polar Bears improve to 13-12 overall and 7-11 in the Ohio Athletic Conference and the Muskies fall to 1-24 overall and 0-18 in the OAC.
