MOUNT BLANCHARD — The Riverdale Board of Education is moving forward in its pursuit of an updated security system for the school. The district’s current security system is about 13 to 14 years old, Superintendent Eric Hoffman said at Riverdale’s monthly board meeting on Monday.

A woman who was considered to be a major drug dealer in Hardin County is headed to prison for five years. A jury of four men and eight women found Jamie Lee Whittaker guilty of 17 counts of drug-related charges on Nov. 16. Monday afternoon, Judge Scott Barrett said he had the responsibility to protect the public from Whittaker and sent her to prison.

Two Kenton men were identified as sexual offenders in separate cases before the Hardin County Common Pleas Court recently.

MOUNT VICTORY — Elgin outscored Ridgemont 19-2 in the second quarter to take control on the scoreboard and then held off Ridgemont for the final 16 minutes on the way to a 49-38 victory in the championship game of the host Gophers season-opening tournament on Saturday night.

On Friday night, Upper Sandusky blew out New Riegel behind a 32-point performance by Abigail Fogle. On Saturday night, the Rams used balance to defeat Riverdale, 59-44, in the Falcons’ season opener. Fogle scored 14 points to lead four players in double figures.

DOLA — Toledo Christian rallied from a seven-point halftime deficit to spoil Hardin Northern’s home opener with a 56-43 victory in non-league girls basketball action Saturday night.

ADA — Junior Nate Burger scored a career-high 22 points in a losing effort as the Ohio Northern men's basketball team, fell to visiting Wisconsin-Whitewater 87-72 on Saturday afternoon.

Candice N. Lafferty, 17581 TH 63, Forest, was the driver and only occupant of a vehicle that was stopped for a traffic violation.
