ADA — The Ada School District is asking its voters to turn out on Election Day, Tuesday, Nov. 7 to renew a 3/4 percent income tax levy that is set to expire at the end of the calendar year. The five-year levy has been in effect since 1992 and the district is seeking its renewal for a fifth time.

Times for the final days of in-person absentee/early voting for the Nov. 7 election have been set by the Hardin County Board of Elections. Voting will take place in the board’s office in the basement of the courthouse. After 5 p.m. and on weekends, voters are to use the south entrance of the courthouse. ALGER — Six candidates are vying for four openings on the Alger Village Council in the Nov. 7 election. Seeking a return to council are Stephen Collingsworth, Linda Dienstberger, Don Hensley and Don Thompson.

Voters from throughout Hardin County will vote on the future of the county’s 9-1-1 system this fall. The funding for the system is up for a renewal for another five years on the Nov. 7 ballot.

The senior citizens of Hardin County have come to rely on the services they get through the Council On Aging. The busing service transports them on local errands and to medical appointments throughout the state at no cost to the individual. There are free meals provided daily at the Senior Citizen Center and those who need care around the clock are cared for during the day at the Adult Day Care Center.

Jon Cross of Kenton received endorsements from several area officials Saturday morning to kick off his fall campaign to become the 83rd District state representative. Before embarking on a bus tour of several communities in the district, the first-time political office seeker received the verbal backing of Hardin County Commissioners Brice Beaman and Roger Crowe, mayors Tom Seem of Forest and Mike Trout of Mount Victory, and Hardin County Sheriff Keith Everhart and Logan County Sheriff Randy Dodds.

Candidates for school board, village and township seats have filed petitions to be on the November general election ballot. Wednesday was the filing deadline at the Hardin County Board of Elections. The petitions must be approved by the elections board to appear on the ballot.

One countywide issue and a variety of local issues will be on the ballot when Hardin County voters go to the polls in November. The Hardin County Council on Aging is seeking the renewal of a 1.5-mill operating levy. If approved the tax would be collected for another five years.
