The Hardin County Board of Elections will start processing absentee ballots at 9 a.m. Monday, Oct. 24 in its office in the courthouse. It also has announced that its next regular meeting will be on Tuesday, Nov. 8 (Election Day) at 6 a.m. There will be no meeting on Nov. 10.

Three candidates are competing for the Jan. 3 term for a seat on the Hardin County Board of Commissioners. The post had been held by Ed Elliott II and Elliott had filed for re-election in the Republican primary before he died earlier this year.

The regular meeting of the Hardin County Central and Executive Committees took place on Oct. 12 at 7 p.m. The meeting served to officially open the Republican Election Headquarters at 304 W. Franklin St., Kenton.

MOUNT BLANCHARD — The Riverdale Local School District is asking its voters to approve a three-year, 1 percent income tax renewal on the Nov. 8 ballot.

Randy Rogers is being challenged to retain his seat as a Hardin County commissioner in this year’s general election on Nov. 8. The Republican incumbent is facing off against Democrat Joe Hord, a former Kenton councilman, in the Jan. 2 term for the commissioner post.

Early voting for the 2016 election is off to a good start in Hardin County. Board of Elections Director Sandra Bookmyer said today that people were waiting in line outside the board’s door in the basement of the courthouse when voting began Wednesday morning.

FOREST — In May of 2014, Forest was preparing to open its swimming pool for the season when major physical concerns were discovered. The old pump house built under the concrete deck was collapsing. The walls had buckled several inches and the pool itself was considered unsafe for public use.

The Hardin County Republican Party held its Fall Rally on Sunday, Oct. 9 at St. John's Church in Kenton. The annual event featured Republican candidates (local, state and national).

The Hardin County Board of Elections will extend its hours today in recognition of it being the last day for people to register to vote in the Nov. 8 election. Director Sandra Bookmyer said the office will remain open today until 9 p.m.
