“Exceptional acts of heroism” by four law enforcement officers were recognized at Monday’s Kenton City Council meeting. Three Kenton police officers and one Hardin County Sheriff’s deputy were honored by Kenton Chief Dennis Musser for “going beyond the call of duty” in two incidents last month.

Kenton City Council adopted the city’s 2016 spending plan and said goodbye to three members and the city auditor at its final meeting of 2015 on Monday night. The $9.8 million budget was approved unanimously on its final reading.

A Kenton assisted living facility will gain more recognition and credibility, said its nursing director, following her election to a national board. Jo Walters, director of nursing at the Blanchard Place, was elected Dec. 16 to the national board of the National Association of Directors of Nursing Administration in Long-Term Care (NADONA/LTC).

MOUNT BLANCHARD — A refurbished rocking chair full of memories sparked tears of love in a Riverdale Elementary classroom Friday and then continued to deliver Christmas spirit through social media. Retired teacher RuthAnn Poling presented Riverdale first grade teacher Andrea Brooks with the restored rocker which had been a staple in her classroom at Ridgemont when Brooks was a student there.

During the Christmas season, most people don’t have extra cash available. So when several motorists were pulled over last week by Hardin County sheriff’s deputies, their first responses were anxiety and frustration. They didn’t think they weren’t breaking the law, but now there was the prospect of another unexpected bill to pay.
