The Hardin County Engineer’s Office has a plan on how to resolve a storm drainage issue on Kenton’s south side. But it needs the support of CSX Railroad. Getting that approval, county commissioners learned Thursday afternoon, will not be cheap.

ADA — The Ada Board of Education approved a new three-year contract with the district’s classified staff, the Ada Classified Association (ACA), at its regular meeting Thursday night. Like the Ada Education Association agreement approved by the board in May, the ACA’s contract includes 3 percent raises annually. Both unions have ratified the tentative agreements.

MOUNT VICTORY — Ridgemont School District voters will be asked to renew an income tax at the ballot box this fall. The Ridgemont Board of Education, at its monthly meeting Thursday evening, voted to seek renewal of the district’s .75 percent income tax for five years at the election on Nov. 5. The current tax was approved by voters in May of 2015.

A vehicle in the 300 block of Summit Street was towed away by Lowery’s Towing due to it not being moved for the street resurfacing project. A vehicle in the 10 block of Grape Street was towed away by Route 31 towing service due to its blocking street workers in the area.

MARION – More than 70 individuals will take the stage in the production of “The Music Man” July 13-July 21 at the historic Marion Palace Theatre. Directed by Clare Cooke, the musical comedy will be performed on five show dates: Saturday, July 13 at 7:30 p.m.; Sunday, July 14 at 2 p.m.; Friday, July 19 at 7:30 p.m.; Saturday, July 20 at 7:30 p.m. and Sunday, July 21 at 2 p.m.

Paving of Leighton Street (between West Franklin and Kohler) is slated for Friday, June 28 beginning at 7:30 a.m., weather permitting. Public Works Superintendent Burl Helton said all vehicles must be removed from the street or they will be towed at the owner’s expense.

The tennis courts are getting a makeover this summer as they have received a new asphalt overlay, and are being repainted purple and sandstone, and restriped as part of the $63,390 project.

DOLA — Hardin Northern High School students interested in history could be getting an opportunity to visit Gettysburg, Pa., during the next school year. During the board’s regular monthly meeting on Wednesday, Joe Foster, instructor of the History Brigade student club at the school, made the board aware of his proposal to take the students to the historic Civil War site.
