NEW BLOOMINGTON — A Mount Victory man died in a single vehicle crash in Marion County on Monday afternoon. Gordon Rothfuss, 54, of Mount Victory, was pronounced dead at Marion General Hospital, according to a report from the Marion post of the Ohio State Highway Patrol.

A theft from a vehicle was reported at 453 E. North Street. Stolen medication was reported in Morningside Villa.

Experts on the dangers of hazardous materials presented testimony Monday night to the Buck Township trustees that the transloading station proposed for development in the township would pose minimal risk to its neighbors. The majority of the estimated 50 people who attended the special meeting in Veterans Hall at the Hardin County Courthouse were not residents of the township and spoke in support of the jobs the business would generate for the community.

Kenton is close to embarking on a multi-generational project for its downtown.

Kenton City Council took no action on a request for a mid-block crosswalk by a city business during its meeting Monday night. However, council hasn’t completely ruled out the request by the Schindewolf-Stout-Crates Funeral Home.

McGUFFEY — The Upper Scioto Valley Board of Education hired several new certified staff members, including a new high school/middle school principal, during its June meeting on Monday night. The board approved the promotion of current HS/MS assistant Lindsey Thompson to the post of HS/MS principal.
