Youth can earn money learning about mental health careers Area students will be given an opportunity to earn money while they learn about careers in the mental health field. Prevention Awareness Support Services (PASS) has partnered with the Family Resource Center and the Mental Health Recovery Services Board of Allen, Auglaize and Hardin counties are sponsoring the event, which will last five weeks. OSU alumni treated to music show Members of the Ohio State Alumni Club of Hardin County were treated to music from the Beatles at their annual dinner on Tuesday night in Kenton. William Ballenger, director of the OSU School of Music, and assistant Pete Tender, sang and played a selection of Beatles’ songs. The “Musical Magical Mystery Tour,” Ballenger said, was inspired by a study abroad to London a year ago in which they visited various Beatles landmarks. Read More

Ada tables renting park to church ADA — The Ada Village Council is in the midst of deciding the best course of action in how to handle the renting of the village park to a church wishing to use it for a service. KFD ambulance squad, BKP poised to split emergency calls in city The ambulance service operated by the Kenton Fire Department will be taking a more prominent role in handling emergency calls in the city starting next month. Effective at 8 a.m. on June 1, Hardin County 9-1-1 dispatchers will be directed to assign emergency runs in Kenton on an alternating basis between the KFD squad and BKP Ambulance Service, Kenton Mayor Randy Manns confirmed to the Times on Monday night. Engineering work OK’d for Kenton water plant project; old hospital may be razed Kenton City Council’s Finance Committee is recommending the city move ahead with an engineering study to fix a problem at the city’s water plant. The panel, at its meeting Monday evening, voted to request that council be asked to allocate $43,850 from the water fund to hire OHM Advisors for the engineering work.
