Ada man gets 4 1/2 years in prison

An Ada man was sent to prison for more than four years after pleading guilty to charges in Hardin County Common Pleas Court. According to court records from Prosecutor Brad Bailey’s office, Kyle Lee Conaway, 7029 CR 29, Ada, was sentenced to three years in prison by Judge Scott Barrett for one count of felonious assault.

KHS teams successful at law contest

Several teams from Kenton High School travelled to Ada on recently to participate in the annual Street Law Competition at Ohio Northern University. The defense team from Brad Blue's seventh period American Politics course brought home the top honors while the defense from Christina Cross's fourth period American Government class came in third.

HMS offers screenings

Hardin Memorial Hospital will be offering a free skin cancer screening event on Monday, May 2 in the Specialty Center. Dr. Andrea Costanza from Signature Dermatology in Columbus will be conducting the screening. Appointments are limited and must be made by calling 419-675-8137.

Dispose of trash at own house

My letter may make no difference concerning people who walk by your house or drive by your house and throw their unwanted trash in yards that we are trying to keep clean. Imagine you are disabled in some way or another physically and you have to go out with a bag and pick up someone’s unwanted trash that they have discarded in your yard.

Cross calls for county task force to address eyesores, nuisances

There were more guests at the Hardin County Mayors Association meeting than mayors attending Wednesday evening. But Forest’s Tom Seem, Patterson’s Jason Kearns and Mount Victory’s Mike Trout heard an update on the immediate future of a land bank being established in the county and witnessed a confrontation between Chamber and Business Alliance President Jon Cross and Kenton’s Safety Service Director Jim Hites regarding the city’s progress on addressing nuisance concerns.
