A Kenton man surrendered without incident and was arrested following a long standoff with police Friday evening.

An officer responded to a report of criminal damaging at 431 N. Main St. Two vehicles were damaged with key scratches.

In the end, the prosecution didn’t need its star witness to convict Andrew Worthington of kidnapping charges. Members of the Hardin County Common Pleas Court jury, who found him guilty after 2 1/2 hours of deliberation Thursday afternoon, said the video of the September 2014 incident was enough to convince them of his guilt.

Kenton city workers lower a replacement water line into place to replace the old 8-inch metal pipe that ruptured Thursday morning at the corner of Franklin and Main streets in the downtown.

Hardin County residents are invited to dispose of their outdated or unused prescription drugs, as well as over-the-counter medicine at Saturday’s Drug Takeback Day. Set for 9 a.m. to noon, drop-off sites will be located in Kenton and Ada.

In 2002, the library boards throughout Hardin County adopted a formula for dividing the state funding the county receives. Six of the libraries (which includes Belle Center) are happy with the way that formula is working. One library board feels the formula has been flawed from its conception and wants it changed.

MOUNT VICTORY — Some residents of Mount Victory will experience a temporary water shut-off while the switch is made from the existing line to the new water line. Andy Clarridge from Page Engineering attended Thursday’s Mount Victory Council meeting to give council members an update on various projects around the village.

A spaghetti dinner fundraiser is planned Saturday night in Kenton to help with expenses for a Hardin County woman who is battling cancer. The benefit for Mitzi Kitchen will be from 6 to 9 p.m. at the Kenton Elks. It is open to the public.
