FINDLAY — Juleigha Collier was second and Kendra Collier was third to lead the Riverdale girls cross country team to a second place finish at the Blanchard Valley Conference meet on Saturday at Owens Community College.

In 1997, the Hardin County Armory had an appointment with a wrecking ball, but through the contributions and work of a large group of volunteers, the former nuisance is now one of the county's most popular showcases.

The Kenton Fire Department recognized Fire Prevention Month with its annual poster contest. The station was a beehive of activity Friday with the second-graders coming in for a tour and to receive their awards in the annual Fire Prevention Week poster contest.

The Victory Gospel fall concert will be held from 6 to 8:30 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 16 at the Community Building, 234 N. Washington St., Mount Victory. Doors open at 4 p.m.

Members of the Ada Kiwanis Club met on Tuesday, Oct. 9 at noon at the New China Restaurant, in downtown Ada. President Joe Ferguson presided at the meeting. Jon Umphress offered the invocation.

Despite the pouring rain of Friday afternoon, Oct. 5, 17 Hardin Northern Garden Club members gathered at the home of Kay Doll for a delicious noon brunch. The brunch consisted of a blueberry egg casserole, gravy sausage on warm biscuits, homemade brown sugar/carmel sweet rolls by Mary Hannah and an awesome fresh fruit plate.

The swimming pool at the Hardin County Family YMCA reopened this week after being closed all spring and summer, and is already a popular destination. Last fall, said YMCA Executive Director Sean Galvin, the staff noticed there was moisture dripping from the ceiling of the pool area and then in the spring, rust was discovered on the sprinkler system.

Members of Senate Masonic Lodge 378 of Forest and Latham Lodge 154 of Kenton have the Jerry Cross Community Park behind their Kenton lodge and have volunteered to keep the park looking nice.
