Deardurff leads BL softball

SPRINGFIELD — Grace Deardurff tossed a three-hitter in the pitcher’s circle and had a drove home both runs at the plate to lead Ben Logan to a 2-0 win over Springfield Northwestern on Monday afternoon. Deardurff had a triple and Kinzie Jones added two hits with a triple to lead the Raiders, who scored single runs in the fourth and sixth innings.

Gophers win

WAYNESFIELD — Ridgemont defeated Waynesfield-Goshen 8-4 in Northwest Central Conference baseball action on Monday afternoon. Austin Elsasser led the way for the Gophers with three hits.

Gossard has another big day for Bulldogs

VAN WERT — Maddie Gossard had a home run, two doubles and four RBIs to lead Ada to a 10-6 eight-inning win over Lincolnview in Northwest Conference softball action on Monday. Raina England added two hits with a double and three RBIs for the Bulldogs, who broke a 6-6 tie with four runs in the top of the eighth inning.

Roth, Elgin shut down Polar Bears softball

LARUE — Elgin pitcher Alex Roth limited Hardin Northern to four hits as the Comets cruised past Hardin Northern 10-0 in a Northwest Central Conference softball game on Monday afternoon. Roth struck out eight batters for the Comets, who jumped ahead 6-0 after one inning and added two runs in both the fourth and fifth frames.

Lady Raiders finish 2nd at Logan County Meet

LEWISTOWN — The Ben Logan girls had five first place finishes on the way to a second place team effort in the Logan County Track Meet at Indian Lake on Monday night. Leading the way for the Raiders was Stevie Plikerd, who was first in the long jump (14-11 1/2) and added second place efforts n the high jump (5-2) and the 100 dash (13.5 seconds).

Wapak bests KHS tennis

Wapakoneta defeated Kenton 4-1 in a Western Buckeye League tennis match on Monday afternoon. The lone win for the Wildcats came at No. 2 doubles as Alex Stephens and Mason Bloom outfought the Redskins Austin Hancock and Noah Kirby 6-3, 2-6, 10-8.

Comets smash HN baseball

LARUE — Elgin scored 15 runs in the bottom of the fourth inning to put away a 20-2 five-inning win over Hardin Northern in Northwest Central Conference baseball action on Monday. The Comets scored a run in the first inning and four more in the third inning before putting the game out of reach in the fourth.

L’view takes care of Ada

VAN WERT — Lincolnview took advantage of seven Ada errors on the way to a 15-1 five-inning win over the Bulldogs in Northwest Conference baseball action on Monday afternoon. The host Lancers, who scored seven runs in the first inning, held Ada to two hits in the game – a double and a single by Aaron Everhart.
