CONTINENTAL — Riverdale scored four goals in the first half in cruising to a 6-2 victory over Continental in a non-league boys soccer game on Monday. Coby Miller had three goals to lead the way for the Falcons. Tyler Hart, Brayden Courtney and Logan Frey also found the back of the net for the Falcons, who led 6-0 with 24 minutes left in the game.

GALION — Hardin Northern was 19th of 24 teams in the Division III race at the Galion Cross Country Festival on Saturday. Leading the way for the Polar Bears was Aiden Gatchell, who was 51st in 18:37. He was followed by Jayce Curlis in 101st (20:17), Zeb Wilson in 102nd (20:19), Luke Wilson in 108th (20:41), Jacob Diller in 13rd (22:17) and Leif Trachsel in 134th (22:18).

The Kenton Middle School girls soccer team defeated St. Marys 3-2 on Sunday. Kine Sprang, Mya Good and Haley Wise scored goals for Kenton.

The Senior League held its banquet honoring Norm Newman as the league champion. Doug Camper finished second. Also honored was Dick Cannode for the lowest actual average and Mike Fink for the most weekly skill prizes during the year.

CELINA — Friday night’s game at Celina started out in a fashion very similar to the Kenton’s trip two years ago to face the Bulldogs on the road as the Wildcats threw an interception that was returned for a touchdown on the first play from scrimmage.

MOUNT BLANCHARD — Riverdale was shut out in the first half of Friday night’s Blanchard Valley Conference football game at home against McComb. They found the end zone once in the second half but gave up two more scores, falling 42-6.

McGUFFEY — The Upper Scioto Valley vs. Ada football game scheduled for last night was cancelled due to lightning. The game has been rescheduled for tonight at 7 p.m. Everyone attending will be admitted for free.

DOLA — Backed by a defense that nearly pitched a shutout, Hardin Northern’s Owen Wetherill scored five touchdowns – four rushing and one receiving – leading the Polar Bears to a 56-6 non-conference victory at home on Friday night.

SPRINGFIELD — With just 65 yards of offense, the Benjamin Logan Raiders were unable solve the Kenton Ridge defense, falling 48-6 on the road in Friday night’s non-divisional Central Buckeye Conference football game. The loss drops the Raiders to 1-2 on the season, while the Cougars improve to 2-1.

METAMORA — The Ridgemont Golden Gophers fell to Evergreen 58-24 on the road in Friday night’s non-conference football game. The Gophers fall to 0-3 with the loss, while the Vikings improve to 2-1.
