There will be a meeting at 5 p.m. Friday in the Kenton Middle School gymnasium for any 7th pr 8th grade boy interested in playing soccer at KMS this fall. A practice and game schedule and other details will be discussed.

The Kenton High School boys soccer coaching staff and players will be holding a summer camp for boys and girls ages 4 though eighth grade from 9-11:30 a.m. July 30-Aug. 2 at the KHS soccer fields. Campers will be grouped by grade/age and will participate in drills that emphasize footwork, shooting, passing and defending. Each participant will receive a T-shirt and a snack each morning.

UPPER SANDUSKY — The Riverdale Community Lions Golf Scramble was held July 20, at Lincoln Hills Golf Course in Upper Sandusky. This year 15 teams /60 golfers, playing in extreme heat conditions, split cash prizes and won individual contests.

COLUMBUS — Although the memories from 2014 weren’t far from many of the players’ thoughts, members of Carmen’s Crew didn’t view Sunday’s The Basketball Tournament regional championship game versus Red Scare as Buckeyes versus Flyers.

Roger Crowe was the weekly winner in the Tuesday Senior Golf League. There was a tie for second place between Doug Camper and Roger Crowe. The overall leader continues to be Norm Newman. Doug Camper moved up to second place and Doug Roberts slipped to third. The skills winner was Tom Myers with the longest drive on hole 12.

FOREST — The Tree Town Trot was held Saturday, July 13 at 8 a.m. It was sponsored by the Hardin County Family YMCA in conjunction with the Tree Town Festival Committee. Beautiful weather accompanied the 39 participants as they completed the course through the streets of Forest and on rural roads.

The Kenton Area Swim Team held the end of season banquet Wednesday night at the Elks. The Merrill and Kim Kaufman Service award was presented to Matt and Sue Bailey.

Sisters Claire and Chloe Kemmere of Kenton spend a lot of time in the pool, and evidence of that is showing more and more. Claire, age 12, has been swimming for six years and Chloe, age 10, for five. Beginning today and continuing through Sunday, they will be competing at the 2019 Long Course Junior Olympic Championship in Oxford at the campus of Miami University.

The 2019 Kenton High School mini cheer clinic will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday through Thursday, July 29 through Aug. 1 at the high school lawn and KHS gym. The clinic, which will be taught by KHS cheerleaders and coaches, will teach the important basics of cheerleading. Participants will perform during the first quarter of the first home varsity game on Friday, Sept. 6.
