Four-run sixth inning lifts Lady Falcons

TIFFIN — Riverdale plated four runs in the top of the sixth inning to rally for a 5-3 victory over Columbian in a non-league softball game on Thursday afternoon. Alison Donaugh had three hits with an RBI and Brooke Walter had two hits with a double and an RBI to lead the Raiders. Alyssa McCloud also had two hits with an RBI.

Messmer’s HR pushes Falcons past Arcadia

ARCADIA — Justine Messmer’s solo home run in the top of the sixth inning proved to be the difference as Riverdale held off Arcadia 3-2 in a Blanchard Valley Conference softball game on Wednesday afternoon. The Falcons led 2-1 after plating single runs in the first and second innings before Messmer’s home run put them ahead 3-1. Arcadia’s Caity Cramer hit a solo home run in the bottom of the seventh to get the Redskins back within a run, but after Arcadia got runners on second and third base with two outs, Riverdale pitcher Alison Donaugh recorded a strikeout to end the game.

Kenton athletes place, advance at district track

DEFIANCE — The Kenton track teams had several athletes finish among the top eight in events completed on Wednesday at the Division II district track meet at Defiance. Scoring points for Kenton were Kaden Miller, who tied for seventh in the pole vault with a leap of 12-0, and Bryce Ellis, who was eighth in the long jump (19-10).

The second farm Indians defeated the Reds 19-5 on Wednesday. Leading the way for the Indians was Braylen Miller with a home run and 2 singles. Domanic Sloan had 2 triples and a single, Jayce Bordner had a triple and 2 singles, Tatum Dale and Emma Kaylor both had a double and 2 singles, Nolan Asman had 3 singles, Eliannah Miller, Dakota Hale-Adkins and Stewart Kaylor all had a double and a single, Brendan Potter had 2 singles and For the Reds, Dylan Hamlin had a double and a single, Daniel Britton, Gabe Purcell and Leighton Wirble all had 2 singles and Judah Hudgel had a double.

Cory-Rawson rallies past Hardin Northern

DOLA — Cory-Rawson scored four runs in the top of the seventh inning to rally for a 7-4 victory over host Hardin Northern in a Division IV sectional baseball contest on Tuesday afternoon. After falling behind 3-0 after the top of the first inning, the Polar Bears plated single runs in the first, third, fifth and sixth innings to grab a 4-3 advantage, setting the stage for the Cory-Rawson comeback in the seventh frame.
