Messmer’s HR pushes Falcons past Arcadia ARCADIA — Justine Messmer’s solo home run in the top of the sixth inning proved to be the difference as Riverdale held off Arcadia 3-2 in a Blanchard Valley Conference softball game on Wednesday afternoon. The Falcons led 2-1 after plating single runs in the first and second innings before Messmer’s home run put them ahead 3-1. Arcadia’s Caity Cramer hit a solo home run in the bottom of the seventh to get the Redskins back within a run, but after Arcadia got runners on second and third base with two outs, Riverdale pitcher Alison Donaugh recorded a strikeout to end the game.
