HN boys off to a solid start at NWCC meet

WAYNESFIELD — After one day of competition Thursday, the Hardin Northern boys sit in second place, six points behind leader Waynesfield-Goshen, at the Northwest Central Conference track and field meet. Waynesfield leads the standings with 38 points, followed by Hardin Northern with 31. Upper Scioto Valley is sixth with 13 points, while Ridgemont sits in ninth with 1 point.

Lady Gophers wrap up regular season with ‘W’

RIDGEWAY — Ridgemont took control with five runs in the second inning and added four more in the third on the way to an 11-1 victory over Waynesfield-Goshen in a Northwest Central Conference softball game on Wednesday. The Gophers, who improve to 12-8 on the season and 4-3 in the NWCC, received two RBIs each from Emma Smith, Hannah Shoffner and Kylie Turner.

Eight-run sixth inning lifts Raiders by Chiefs

BELLEFONTAINE — Ben Logan scored eight runs in the sixth inning on the way to a 12-4 victory over Bellefontaine in a Central Buckeye Conference cross-divisional baseball game on Wednesday afternoon. The Raiders broke a 1-1 tie with two runs in the fourth inning. After they plated eight in the top of the sixth, Bellefontaine scored three runs in the bottom half of the frame.

Perry gets past USV, 5-2

McGUFFEY — Perry defeated Upper Scioto Valley 5-2 in a Northwest Central Conference softball game on Wednesday afternoon. The Commodores took a 2-1 lead after one inning and led 3-2 after three innings before adding a pair of insurance runs in the top of the seventh.

H-L outhits Lady Falcons

BASCOM — Hopewell-Loudon scored four runs in the first inning and added three in the second on the way to a 10-1 Blanchard Valley Conference softball victory over Riverdale on Wednesday afternoon. Lainie Howell and Katie Biltoft finished with three hits each for the Falcons. Allison Donaugh added a pair of hits with an RBI in the first inning.

Fast start carries McComb by HN

McCOMB — McComb plated multiple runs in each of the first three innings, including six in the third inning, in cruising to a 14-2 five-inning victory over Hardin Northern in non-league baseball action on Wednesday. The host Panthers took the lead with three runs in the first inning and four more in the second before putting the game out of reach in the third.

Little league: May 9, 2019

The second farm Orioles defeated the Tigers 3-2 on Wednesday afternoon. Hitters for the Orioles were Zach Eissinger with two home runs and 3 RBIs, Ryder Harrison with a double and Landon Miller and Kellen Good each with a single.
