The Kenton Area Swim Team held its end of season banquet on Wednesday night. Special awards were handed out for highest points, most improved and a new annual service award created last year called the Merrill and Kim Kaufman Service Award.

Riverdale Softball 10u won the Hancock County League championship game against Fostoria on Monday. The Kenton Little League 12u All-Stars prepared for their trip to the state tournament in Canton this weekend with a practice and scrimmage on Thursday night. The squad, which won two of three games from Maumee last week to win the district 10 championship, is the first Kenton team to make it to the state tournament since 2012.

Memorial Park Golf Course has announced winners from the medal play tournament completed this past weekend. Britton Hensel claimed the championship flight with Billy Cozad winning the A Flight, Jeff Butcher the B Flight, Joe Prater the senior men’s flight and Gene Longbrake the super senior flight.

There will be a men’s softball tournament at Kenton Waterworks Park on July 28. The first eight teams will be accepted.

The Bloom family of Kenton was recognized with the Mayor’s Award at the Western Ohio Aquatic League swim meet this past weekend. The award has been presented annually since 1975 by the members of the WOAL to a person or persons that had shown a spirit of volunteerism and dedication to the activities of the Lima area swim programs, including not only the summer W.O.A.L., but high school, YMCA and U.S.A./Lima Area Team activities as well.

The Kenton Little League 12U All Stars will be playing the winner of District 4 at 4 p.m. Saturday in North Canton, Ohio. The District 4 championship between Dover and East Holmes Little League will be played tonight.

The Kenton Little League 12u All Stars defeated Maumee 17-6 on Friday night to win the District 10 championship. Luke Leffler and Tim Wilkinson had home runs for Kenton, which travels to North Canton on Saturday to play in the state level tournament.

The Kenton High School cheerleaders won a pair of awards at the Universal Cheerleaders Association camp at Bowling Green State University last week. The Wildcats went home with first place for their rally routine.

KIRBY — The Kirby Festival Cornhole Tournament will be held on July 28 with both competitive and social divisions. The cost is $40 per team in the competitive division and $20 per team in the social division.
