Ada sweeps singles play in win over Upper

UPPER SANDUSKY — Ada swept all three singles matches on the way to a 4-1 tennis win over Upper Sandusky on Monday afternoon. The Bulldogs did not surrender a game in singles play as Zach Beaschler defeated Clay Burger 6-0, 6-0; Cade Mullins was a 6-0, 6-0 winner over Landon Ramos and Isaac Spar topped Justin Blackburn 6-0, 6-0.

Polar Bears hang on to advance by Arcadia

ARCADIA — Hardin Northern held off a late-inning Arcadia rally for a 9-8 win over the Redskins in an opening-round sectional softball matchup on Monday afternoon. The Polar Bears jumped ahead 4-1 after one inning and 9-3 after four innings before Arcadia put a single run on the scoreboard in the bottom of the fifth and scored two more runs in both the fifth and sixth innings to get within one.

There is a tie for first place in Spring League action at Memorial Park Golf Course. The team of Brad Hanna, Dean Brim, Luey Hanna and Judy Brim and the team of Robbie Longbrake, Matt Bailey, Don Dodds and Kim Butcher are both atop the standings with a 9 under par.

SPRINGFIELD — The Ben Logan Middle School girls track team had four first place finishes and three second place efforts on the way to 113 points and a second place finish as a team at the Central Buckeye Conference meet on Monday.

Little league: May 8, 2018

The second farm Blue Jays defeated the Padres 5-0 in Kenton Little League action on Monday afternoon. Hitters for the Blue Jays were Izic Bixler with three hits, Slade Taylor with a double and a single, Abby Schlegel, Kellen Good and Zayden Kennedy with two hits each and Addy Hites and Gabe Mosley-Reed with singles.

Polar Bears suffer 13-2 setback to Lehman

SIDNEY — Lehman Catholic broke open a tight game with nine runs in the bottom of the fourth inning on the way to a 13-2 win over Hardin Northern in a Northwest Central Conference baseball game on Saturday. Both team plated two runs in the first inning before Lehman scored single runs in the second and third inning to take the lead and then broke the game open in the fourth.
