LIMA — The Kenton tennis team finished ninth at the Western Buckeye League tennis tournament over the weekend. The lone placer for the Wildcats was the No. 2 doubles team of Mason Bloom and Alex Stephens, which was fifth.

SIDNEY — Lehman Catholic scored the only runs of the game on a two-run home run by Grace Monnin in the bottom of the fifth inning on the way to a 2-0 victory over Hardin Northern in a non-league softball contest on Saturday. The Polar Bears were held to just one hit in the game – a single by Cassidy Deckling – by Lehman pitcher Hailey Wick.

The second farm White Sox defeated the Padres 10-0 in Kenton Little League play on Saturday. The White Sox were led at the plate by Aiden Brown who had three hits and 2 RBIs.

Facing a one-run deficit to Van Buren, Kenton rallied to put three runs on the board in the bottom of the sixth and held on for the 7-6 non-league baseball victory on Friday. The Black Knights took a 1-0 lead in the first, but the Wildcats evened things up two innings later.

MARION — After taking a 5-3 lead in the top of the fifth, Riverdale surrendered a run to Elgin in each of the next three innings, taking the 6-5 loss in Friday’s non-league baseball game. The Comets scored three in the first two innings, while holding the Falcons scoreless for the first three.

DOLA — Hardin Northern surrendered seven runs in the opening inning against McComb on Friday and were never able to recover, falling 13-2 in the non-league contest. After putting up seven, McComb scored three more in each of the next two innings, with the Polar Bears plating just one run in the bottom of the second.

DOLA — After the Lady Polar Bears had taken a 2-0 lead over McComb in the first inning of Friday’s non-conference softball matchup, they gave up seven-straight runs to the Panthers to fall 11-3. McComb tied the contest with a two-run second inning, and added five more in the next two innings to go up 7-2.

DEFIANCE — The Ada Bulldogs tennis team swept all three singles competitions in Friday’s 2018 Northern Buckeye Tennis League Tournament at Defiance College, scoring 13 points to take first place among the six competitors. Bryan was runner up to Ada, finishing with 10 points.

LIMA — Kenton’s second doubles team of Mason Bloom and Alex Stephens won their first round match at the Western Buckeye League tennis tournament before suffering a defeat in the second round on Thursday. “I am proud of the effort from all the guys,” Kenton coach Rick Collins said.

DOLA — Cassidy Deckling smacked a home run and drove in four runs as part of a three-hit night, helping Hardin Northern to a 9-4 Northwest Central Conference softball win over Waynesfield-Goshen on Thursday. Trailing 2-1 after the top of the fifth, Hardin Northern scored twice to regain the lead.
