MARION — Going into extra innings, the Wildcats were unable to plate a runner while surrendering a run in the eighth to take a 7-6 loss against Marion Pleasant in Thursday’s non-league contest. Tied at 1, Kenton took the lead in the third with a pair of runs.

DOLA — Six runs in the fifth and sixth innings propelled Hardin Northern to an 8-1 Northwest Central Conference baseball win over Waynesfield-Goshen on Thursday. Trailing 1-0, the Polar Bears tied it in the third and took the lead in the fourth with back-to-back one-run innings.

COLUMBUS GROVE — Nine late-inning runs helped propel Ada over Columbus Grove 10-4 in the Northwest Conference softball contest on Thursday. Tied at 1, the Lady Bulldogs tallied four runs in the fifth and five runs in the sixth to go up 10-1.

COLUMBUS GROVE — Tied at 2 entering the seventh frame, Ada tallied a run to post a 3-2 win over Columbus Grove in Thursday’s Northwest Conference baseball game. Columbus Grove took a 1-0 lead in the first, and added one more in the fourth to double its lead.

SPRINGFIELD — Benjamin Logan surrendered 12 runs in the first three innings and lost 13-2 to Kenton Ridge in Thursday’s Central Buckeye Conference cross division softball contest. The Lady Raiders (14-8 overall, 6-7 CBC) managed to pick up runs in the second and third innings, but it wasn’t enough to keep pace with the Cougars, who racked up 13 hits.

MOUNT BLANCHARD — Riverdale was unable to recover from a first-inning five-run deficit by McComb, falling 16-1 in a Blanchard Valley Conference baseball contest on Thursday. Down 5-0, the Falcons got one back in the bottom of the first but surrendered three more in the second to go down 8-1.

SPRINGFIELD — After falling behind early, Benjamin Logan was unable to recover in a 4-3 loss to Kenton Ridge in Thursday’s Central Buckeye Conference cross-division matchup. Blake Peterson took the loss for the Raiders.

McGUFFEY — Upper Scioto Valley senior Megan Carey will be looking to score points for Otterbein University’s track and field team next season. Carey signed her letter of intent to attend the Westerville-based university on Wednesday afternoon.

BELLEFONTAINE — Ben Logan put the game away with five runs in the bottom of the sixth inning on the way to a 10-5 baseball win over Kenton on Wednesday afternoon. The Raiders, who scored once in the second and twice in the third inning before adding single runs in the fourth and fifth innings, received three hits including a home run and three RBIs from Cole Waugh.
