Sheldon gets 20 years in prison in attempted murder case Posted on May 1, 2018 0 Gerrick Sheldon is led away from the Hardin County Courthouse by authorities after his conviction Tuesday afternoon. A Hardin County man found guilty of attempting to have his son kill his step-mother and step-brother has been sent to prison for 20 years. Judge Scott Barrett called the crimes of Gerrick Anthony “Tony” Sheldon “heinous” as he handed down his decision on the case Tuesday afternoon. A jury found Sheldon guilty on April 3 of two counts of complicity to attempt aggravated murder; a total of four counts of complicity to attempt aggravated arson, complicity to unlawfully possess a dangerous ordnance, complicity to possess criminal tools, violation a civil protection order and endangering children. Three of the arson charges were blended into the two complicity to attempt aggravated murder charges. Also blended were the criminal tool and unlawful ordnance counts. When given a chance to speak to the court prior to sentencing, Sheldon simply said as he choked back emotions, “Just tell her I love her and miss her every day. She’ll figure out what happened that night.” The two complicity to commit aggravated murder charges (one with his estranged wife Danielle Sheldon as the victim and the other her minor son) carried a sentence of seven years each with $1,000 fine per count. Sheldon will serve 36 months in prison on the complicity to commit aggravated arson, another year for the unlawful possession of a dangerous ordnance and two years for violating a protection order. He is being given 262 days for time served. A full story will be published in Wednesday’s Kenton Times. By DAN ROBINSON Times staff writer
