D. James McDaniel Posted on January 31, 2019 0 D. James McDaniel D. James McDaniel, 83, of Mt. Blanchard, Ohio passed away Tuesday, January 29, 2019 at the Lima Memorial Hospital. James was born on July 29, 1935 in Forest, Ohio to the late Dwight and Amy (Barnes) McDaniel. He married the love of his life Barbara Mercer on May 5, 1957 in the Mt Blanchard United Methodist Church and she survives. Also surviving are his children Rev. Bruce McDaniel (Kay), Michael (Liz) McDaniel, Karen (Ken) Mowery and Loretta (Tom) Edwards, grandchildren Tyler, Drew, Allan, Judson and Samuel McDaniel, Chad, Christopher and Michelle Mowery, Kellsie and Kent Edwards, Evan and Cade McDaniel, Diego, Santi and Amara Hernandez and 10 great-grandchildren; sisters: Joan Walters, Linda (Ed) Garey and Sharon (Harold) Myers, brothers: Gene and Merle (Janet) McDaniel. He was preceded in death by his son Jerry McDaniel and a brother John McDaniel. James was a graduate of Mt. Blanchard High School and attended Findlay Technical College. He proudly served his country in the United Sates Army during the Korean War. James was the Past Chancellor Commander of the Mt. Blanchard Knights of Pythias, lifelong member of the Findlay D.A.V. Buddy Chapter #43 and former member of the Mt. Blanchard Lions Club. He faithfully attended and was a member of the Mt. Blanchard United Methodist Church where he served as a trustee. James was also very active in the Mt. Blanchard Community where he was a former village councilman and volunteer with the homecoming and also filmed movies for the Riverdale High School football games and the Findlay College football games. James loved photography and traveling and camping throughout the United States. He loved conversing with anybody and everybody, at anytime wherever he might be, always interested in all those around him. James’ passion was attending a variety of sporting events, especially Ohio State Buckeye football games. Visitation for James will be on Friday, February 1, 2019 from 4:00-8:00 PM in the HANNEMAN FUNERAL HOME, 201 Osborn Ave., Findlay, Ohio 45840. His funeral service will be on Saturday, February 2, 2019 at 11:00 AM in the Mt Blanchard United Methodist Church, 204 S. Main St., Mt. Blanchard, Ohio 45867.
