About 30 youth going into grades sixth through eighth participated in the camp, learning drills and working on various events including the jumps, hurdles, pole vault, sprints, throws and distance events. Kenton High School track athletes also helped out at the camp, which was open to youth from throughout the county.

Registration continues for YMCA fall soccer

The registration deadline for playing in the fall Black Swamp travel soccer league for ages U8-U15 for the Hardin County Family YMCA is Saturday, June 25 at 4 p.m. Playing soccer is a way to keep your kids active and let them experience team sports.

Tree Town Festival plans athletic events

FOREST — The 2016 Tree Town Festival to be held July 8-10 at Gormley Park in Forest will hold various athletic events for festival goers to participate in again this year. Events include the Tree Town Trot 5K, a 3-on-3 basketball tournament, a 4-on-4 volleyball tournament and a fishing derby.

Wilcox shows he deserves a spot as starting WR for Ashland

ASHLAND — Matthew Wilcox was not certain what to expect when he reported to the Ashland University football training camp last August. The Ada High School graduate had redshirted as a true freshman and was hoping to show the Eagle coaching staff he deserved a spot on the field among a large group of wide receivers competing for playing time.
