McGUFFEY — Upper Scioto Valley seemed to be in control Wednesday night in a match-up of one-loss girls basketball teams. The Rams led by 11 points with two minutes to play in the game, but Ben Logan scored the next nine points and had the ball back with 13 seconds to play.

Polar Bears top Vanlue at home

DOLA — Hardin Northern pulled away from Vanlue in the second quarter and cruised to a 59-31 victory in nonconference girls basketball Wednesday night. The Polar Bears (6-4) led 10-8 after the first quarter, 27-16 at halftime and 38-25 after three quarters.

Polar Bears bested in invite title game

ROCKFORD — Fairlawn took a nine-point lead after the first quarter Wednesday night and went on to defeat Hardin Northern 74-55 in boys basketball action at the Chatt Insurance Holiday Invitational. Fairlawn outscored the Polar Bears 23-14 in the first quarter.

Leipsic defeats Riverdale by 20

LEIPSIC — Three players scored in double figures for Riverdale, but the Falcons were outdone in bookend quarters of a 62-42 Blanchard Valley Conference boys basketball loss at Leipsic on Wednesday. Noah Hough led Riverdale (3-5, 0-3 BVC) with 12 points, and Tommy Dusseau and Jackson Hankins each scored 11.

Free blues concert slated Jan. 13 in Lima

LIMA — A blues concert by Geneva Red and The Original Delta Fireballs will be at 7 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 13 at the Allen County Museum, 620 W. Market St., Lima. Hosted by the Allen County Historical Society, in conjunction with the Blues Committee of Lima, this program is free and open to the public.
