The Hardin County Board of Elections will be transferring data to disks on Wednesday at 9 a.m. in its office in the courthouse.

As Jamie Davis prepared for a meeting at the Hardin County Coonhunters Club Monday afternoon, he was a little apprehensive. This was to be the second special meeting called by the organization to discuss the future of the club east of Hepburn, formed in 1953 to educate and preserve hunting sports.

An Indiana investment group is the new owner of the former Hardin Central School property on East Columbus Street in Kenton. The Kenton Board of Education on Monday night unanimously approved the sale of the 12-acre site to Equity Investment Group of Fort Wayne, Ind., for $550,000.

McGUFFEY — A mother of a Upper Scioto Valley athlete said a policy keeping sports participants from receiving the honors they earn is unfair and should be trashed. Melissa Bartlett told the USV Board of Education Monday night her son had been a member of the track team last spring.

ALGER — With a few weeks left before water customers in Alger start paying for the water they use, village officials remain concerned with the high usage by some residents. Alger currently charges a flat rate for water service regardless of how much the consumer uses, but that is changing with the installation of water meters in the village.

DUNKIRK — Those traveling through the Village of Dunkirk at night recently have likely noticed the large amount of Christmas lights adorning the downtown area. Council President Bob Hayes said he’s heard from two out-of-town individuals about how nice the lights looked when passing through.

The village of Forest celebrated a Charlie Brown Christmas Sunday with a large crowd taking part in shopping and holiday activities.

DUNKIRK — Bingo will be played at the Hardin Northern Community Center in Dunkirk on Thursday from 1:30 to 3:30 p.m. There is no charge to play but donations are accepted.
