DOLA — Awakened Commotion, Hardin Northern High School's pop a cappella singing group, has once again been chosen as a finalist to compete for cash prizes in the Ohio Has Talent competition.

ADA — The Ohio Northern University Department of Music presents the Ohio Northern Symphony performing “Beethoven and Beyond” in the Freed Center for the Performing Arts on Sunday, Feb. 21 at 5 p.m.

MARION — “Charlotte’s Web” will come alive on the Marion Palace Theatre stage Feb. 19-21. Featuring a cast of 29 local youth, it is the theatre’s first junior stage play.

ADA — The Ohio Northern University Department of Music presents the ONU Wind Orchestra on Thursday, Feb. 25 at 7:30 p.m. at the Freed Center for the Performing Arts. The ONU Wind Orchestra, under the direction of Dr. Thomas A. Hunt, presents a program of music for winds and percussion, including James Barnes’ Third Symphony, David Maslanka’s “Mother Earth,” and Rolf Rudin’s “Aufbruch.”

Emily Jones, a 2010 Benjamin Logan High School alumna, Skyped the school’s Advanced Psychology and A.P. Government students on Feb. 12. This opportunity allowed Emily to share her experiences.

Sergeant Kimberly S. Paquet (right) re-enlisted in the United States Army on Feb. 15. She is a 2008 graduate of Ada High School and daughter of John and Beth Howard of Ada.

With the temperature being extremely chilly lately, you might find yourself stuck indoors more than you'd like suffering from a case of the winter blues. (If your winter blues are severe, you may have Seasonal Affective Disorder and you might want to consult your doctor on ways to combat it.)

Sign-up for the 2016 Hardin County Joy Riders will be at 6 p.m. Monday, Feb. 29 at the Arts and Crafts Building located at the Hardin County Fairgrounds. New members are welcome.

Kenton-Hardin County Soroptimist International has named the winners of its Club 250 raffle. They are Bill Hillegass – week 9 (Feb. 1), Stan Schrader – week 10 (Feb. 8) and Marvin Sallee – week 11 (Feb. 15).

The Tuesday Afternoon Shoot the Moon Club met Feb. 16 at the Elks with members enjoying lunch. Winners were Dorothy Hogue , Saundra Modd, Donna Myers, Joyce Hunt and Wanda Clinger.
