Mechanicsburg comes alivein second quarter of win at HN

DOLA — Mechanicsburg trailed by five after one, then erupted for 17 points in the second quarter to take control en route to a 43-26 win at Hardin Northern Saturday in nonconference girls basketball play.

The Indians (14-8) were down 9-4 after one, then outscored Hardin Northern 17-4 in the second quarter to go up 21-13 at half. Mechanicsburg led 27-17 through three.

Baylie Bacon recorded 13 points for the Polar Bears (15-7). Addy Bacon added seven points. Lainey Thomas, Olivia Camper and Lauren Spearman all had two points.

Hardin Northern hosts Pandora-Gilboa at 2 p.m. Saturday for a Division VII sectional title. The winner will play the victor of Arlington and Ridgemont.
