The Kenton Fire Department has acquired its own ambulance and, within the next few months, expects to be able to begin transporting patients as a backup to the BKP Ambulance Service. Chief Tim Clark said the ambulance, previously used by the City of Bellefontaine, was acquired for $7,600 through the govdeals website.

A second man has admitted to his part in a Kenton home invasion and assault which took place in late September. Rick Kenneth Gault, 33, of Forest, pleaded guilty at a pre-trail hearing Monday afternoon of charges of aggravated burglary, grand theft and two counts of felonious assault in the incident.

FINDLAY — Republican candidate Jon Cross has officially filed to run for state representative in the 83rd House District. Cross, of Kenton, turned in his declaration of candidacy petitions at the Hancock County Board of Elections office and is the first candidate to file for the office.

MOUNT BLANCHARD — With Riverdale’s soccer field almost 100-percent clay, the playing surface has become quite hard, which could lead to potential injury, according to outgoing Falcons boys coach Jon Hayfield. At the regular Riverdale board meeting on Monday, Hayfield presented a plan and quote he received from Fields Maintenance of Sandusky, which maintains all parks in Sandusky County, that would change the composition and nature of the field over time, allowing for a more natural, softer and smoother playing surface.

McGUFFEY — For Adam Baumgartner, his role as middle and high school principal at Upper Scioto Valley is all about forming positive relationships, and using those relationships to help others. Adam is in his first year at the position, previously serving three years as a high school science instructor at Ridgemont, teaching biology, anatomy and environmental science.
