Cadet Oliver Moore of Forest (left) was awarded Hap Arnold Achievement and promoted to Cadet Airman First Class by the Lt. Jacob Parrott Composite Squadron of the Civil Air Patrol. Presending the award is Lt. Samantha Beck of Ada. Moore completed the promotion eligibility requirements of leadership, character, activity and fitness.

Firefighters from throughout the area responded to a house fire on the south edge of Kenton on Wednesday night. According to the report at the Kenton Fire Department, the call came in at 9 p.m. regarding a fire at the home of Michael Weatherhead, 14741 Gillmore Road.

During the fall party, Jessica Mast’s 3rd grade class decided to complete a project for the local nursing home residents instead of a traditional craft. While the children got to make a nice Thanksgiving turkey craft, they also got the opportunity to think and share the great things they have in their lives.

FINDLAY — If there were any jitters for the members of the Kenton boys soccer team about playing in the school’s first ever regional tournament contest, the Wildcats did not show them on Wednesday night. The Wildcats dominated Toledo Central Catholic from start to finish, never letting the Irish get into any offensive flow, on the way to a 4-0 win.

The Trophy Bassmasters of Kenton Ohio made their last regular season trip to Lake Erie recently for a good day of tight competition as 13 members competed during the 9-hour day. First place through ninth place were separated by just over 1.5 pounds as the top angler with his first victory as a Bassmaster was Nathan Plaugher of LaFayette.

The annual craft bazaar and luncheon at Our Savior’s Lutheran Church, 725 E. Eliza St. in Kenton, will be held Saturday, Nov. 3. Doors will open at 9 a.m. Handmade craft items will be sold from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.

The Wyandot Piecemakers meeting for October had 21 members present. The club had presented a quilt to Angeline to be raffled off and the proceeds to benefit Special Olympics.

DOLA — Hardin Northern Elementary Principal Brett Halsey was looking for a way to teach leadership skills and responsibility to his students and believes he has found a part of that lesson with this year's sixth grade class. The members of the class have built a new Gaga ball pit in the undeveloped courtyard at the school and plan to use the addition to the campus as a tool to reach out to younger students.
