McGUFFEY — Ridgemont found its batting stroke late plating six runs in the final two innings to pull away for a 10-6 win over Upper Scioto Valley in a Northwest Central Conference baseball game.

McGUFFEY — Jonathan Walter had seven RBIs and Evan McKee added six RBIs as Riverdale swept host Upper Scioto Valley 14-0, 24-1 in a baseball doubleheader on Saturday. Riverdale improves to 7-1.

RIDGEWAY — The host Ridgemont girls won eight events to finish first in the five-team Antique Alley Invitational on Saturday. Sidney Richardson led the way for the Gophers, winning three events, as Ridgemont tallied 165 points to beat out second place Jackson Center, which finished with 111 points.

ADA — As plans are being made to build the state’s largest solar energy field in the western portion of Hardin County, Ohio Northern University is on the threshold of establishing its own solar record. Last fall, the university started work on a solar field to help offset the fluctuating cost of energy with a renewable source.

MOUNT BLANCHARD — Riverdale senior Trey Miller’s first experience on a college baseball field came at Adrian College in Adrian, Michigan during a fall league. On Friday, Miller made it official that the same facility will be the one he’ll play at during his college career.

CELINA — Kenton smacked 16 hits against Celina pitching on the way to a 15-4 Western Buckeye League softball win Friday night. The Wildcats plated three runs in the first inning and four more in the second inning to take a commanding lead before putting the game away with three more runs in the fourth inning and four more in the fifth.

Organizers are preparing for Saturday’s Drug Takeback Day at locations in Kenton, Ada and Forest. The collection takes place from 9 to 11 a.m. There will be assistance available for drivers at the Hardin Memorial Hospital parking lot off Memorial Avenue in Kenton, with cars exiting onto East Franklin Street.
