SPRINGFIELD — The Ben Logan girls cross country team was 8th of 13 teams with 203 points at the Northwestern Invitational on Saturday. Erica Warne led the way for the Raiders, placing 27th in a field of 90 runners in a time of 24:36.

ADA — Logan Willams scored three times and added two assists as Ada cruised to an 8-0 win over Spencerville in Northwest Conference boys soccer action on Saturday. Nate Allen and Bryan Casiano added two goals each for the Bulldogs and Blaine Dearth had one tally.

SPRINGFIELD — The Ben Logan boys soccer team scored seven unanswered goals in the first half and coasted through the second half on the way to an 8-0 win over Southeastern on Saturday. George Kern and Dylan Welch both scored three goals and added two assists for the Raiders who improve to 3-1 on the season with their second consecutive shutout.

BELLEFONTAINE — The Kenton Middle School volleyball teams split a pair of matches with Bellefontaine on Saturday. The eighth grade Wildcats won 25-15, 22-25, 25-20.

COLDWATER - Leading by 21 points at halftime, Coldwater appeared to be on the verge of blowing open the traditional football season-opener against Kenton on Friday night. The Wildcats had other ideas, however.

MOUNT BLANCHARD — A second-half shutout and pair of fourth-quarter touchdowns sealed a 40-18 Riverdale football victory over Waynesfield-Goshen to begin the 2017 campaign Friday. Aidan Loveridge helped out in a few ways as well, including returning the opening kickoff for a touchdown.

McGUFFEY — A 27-point first quarter for the Ada Bulldogs set the tone early and allowed them to cruise to a 40-7 win over Upper Scioto Valley in the season-opening football game on Friday. Helping the Bulldogs to victory was the combination of quarterback Seth Conley to Aaron Everhart.

MORRAL — Ridgemont was unable to hold on to a 7-6 lead over Ridgedale, falling to the Rockets 12-7 in the teams’ season-opening football game on Friday. On the road for their first game, the Gophers took the lead on a 68-yard touchdown run by quarterback Ethan Mouser.

FAIRBANKS — Benjamin Logan quarterback Derek Coy led the Raiders with three total touchdowns to help his team to a 34-19 victory over Fairbanks in the season-opening football contest on Friday night. Coy racked up 133 yards through the air on 15 completions and a pair of touchdowns going to Grant Ward and Ben Whitten.
