Bluffton outshoots Ada

BLUFFTON — Bluffton outscored Ada in all four quarters en rout to a 57-45 Northwest Conference victory on Friday night. The host Pirates held a 17-15 lead after eight minutes and extended the advantage to 28-19 by halftime.

It wasn’t the prettiest of wins, but in the end it didn’t matter how it looked as the Kenton Lady Wildcats and their four seniors were able to celebrate with the pep band after a 50-38 girls basketball victory over Elida on Thursday night in their final home game of the season. After struggling at times to put the ball in the basket against the Bulldogs’ zone defense through the first three quarters, the Wildcats outscored Elida 18-7 in the final nine minutes of the game to pull away for their 15th win of the season.

Dye’s 3-pointer at buzzer lifts HN

DOLA — Ashton Dye’s three-pointer at the buzzer lifted Hardin Northern to a 42-39 victory over St. Wendelin in a non-conference girls basketball game on Thursday night. With the score tied, Dye took an inbound pass with four seconds left, drove the length of the court and fired up a shot from just inside the halfcourt line that went through the basket to win the game.

Wright, Holderman lead Falcons to win

MOUNT BLANCHARD — Riverdale took control early and then finished the job in the second half on the way to a 66-41 Blanchard Valley Conference girls basketball victory over Arcadia on Thursday night. The Falcons, who received 21 points from both Lexie Wright and Sydney Holderman, jumped ahead 24-9 after eight minutes and 40-21 at halftime before extending the advantage to 58-31 after three quarters.

Winning streak extended to 10 games for ONU men

ADA — Ohio Northern extended its winning streak to 10 games with a 91-78 men’s basketball victory over Heidelberg on Wednesday night at the ONU Sports Center. The Polar Bears improve to 15-7 overall and remain in a first place tie in the Ohio Athletic Conference with No. 10-ranked Marietta with a 13-2 record. The Student Princes fall to 9-13, 5-10.
