VAN BUREN — Ada pulled away from Van Buren in the third quarter Monday night on the way to a 58-42 nonconference girls basketball victory. The Bulldogs (13-6) led 12-9 after the first quarter and 29-23 at halftime.

DAYTON — Ben Logan freshman Macy Arn led the Raiders to a third-place finish in the Central Buckeye Conference Mad River Division swimming meet and was named swimmer of the year for her efforts.

Area girls basketball teams learn playoff fate

Riverdale earned the highest seed among area girls basketball teams at the sectional draw held Sunday. The Falcons (10-8) earned the No. 3 seed in the Division III Shelby District. Riverdale opens play against 12th-seeded Fostoria on Feb. 17 at Lexington High School. The two teams play at 6:15 p.m.

Falcons fall late to Mansfield Temple Christian, 66-63

MOUNT BLANCHARD — Riverdale built a big first-quarter lead Saturday against Mansfield Temple Christian, but the visitors slowly chipped away and earned a 66-63 victory in nonconference boys basketball. Riverdale led 23-11 after the first quarter, 39-33 at halftime and 51-49 after three quarters.
