TROY — Anthony Hunt, of Kenton, earned a spot in the 2017 grade School Wrestling State Championships by placing second at Ohio Athletic Committee (OAC) Troy District Qualifier Tournament at Troy Christian High School this past weekend.

BELLEFONTAINE — The Ben Logan boys bowling team was defeated by Bellefontaine 2,404-2,298 on Tuesday night. Leading the Raiders was Luke Longbrake who had a 209 game and a 370 series. Tyler Nicholas added a 192 game. Bellefontaine won the junior varsity game 2,257-1,813. Devon Snider led the Raiders with a 176 game and a 321 series.

SPRINGFIELD — Ben Logan took control by outscoring host Springfield Northwestern by 17 points in the second quarter on the way to a 52-26 Central Buckeye Conference victory on Monday night. The Raiders, who were paced by Darian Rockhold’s 19-point effort, led 13-10 after one quarter before pulling away to a 35-15 lead by halftime. Haley Boysel added 12 points …

The Ben Logan Middle School girls basketball teams dropped their Central Buckeye Conference tournament games Monday night. The No. 5 seeded seventh grade Raiders ended their season after falling to No. 4 Graham 29-23.

Ten Kenton youth wrestlers placed first at the MVKWA Meet at Elida this past weekend. Leading the team with 3-0 records and two pins were Tristen Hale, Kyle Ball and Ronald Boyer. Wrestlers with 3-0 records and one pin were Christopher DeLong, Evan Elliott and Anthony Hunt. DeLong also scored a technical fall.

With Upper Scioto Valley’s Chase Rose on the bench after picking up his second foul late in the first quarter, the Kenton Wildcats took advantage of their good fortune on Saturday night. With the Ram senior sitting, the Wildcats outscored the USV by 14 points over the final 10 minutes of the first half to grab a commanding lead on the way to a 75-59 boys basketball victory in front of the largest crowd of the season in the KHS gymnasium.

DOLA — With just six seconds remaining in the game and looking to make it a two-score game, Ada’s Cade Mullins missed the first of two free throws, giving Hardin Northern life. Mullins hit the second shot to put his team up three.

Upper Scioto Valley earned the No. 2 seed in the girls basketball Division IV Wapakoneta district. The Lady Rams (13-3) will play No. 14 Perry in a first round sectional matchup at Allen East High School at 7:15 p.m. Feb. 21.

LIMA — Four Kenton wrestlers finished fourth as the Wildcats ended up ninth as a team at the Western Buckeye League tournament this past weekend. Finishing fourth for the Wildcats were Mason Rhoades, Brady Beaman, Brian Blankenship and Noah Eikenbary.
