KCS helps with new band uniforms

Members of the Kenton High School Marching Band will be getting new uniforms. The Kenton City Schools’ Board of Education on Monday night approved a plan to advance the Kenton Band Boosters up to $20,000 toward the $40,000 purchase of 90 to 100 uniforms from Stanbury Uniforms.

Discussion continues about Alger center

ALGER — An Alger councilman continued to pursue his plans for an after school program for the youth of the village. J.P. Hunt had suggested at council’s previous meeting the vandalism and negative behavior by some young people in the village might be reduced if they were provided organized activities.

Riverdale Schools plans kindergarten screening

MOUNT BLANCHARD — Riverdale Schools will be conducting its annual kindergarten screening on Thursday, April 7 at the Riverdale Elementary School in the kindergarten classrooms. Parents who have children who will be 5 years old on or before Aug. 1, 2016 are asked to call the elementary office at 419-694-2211 ext. 1113 beginning Feb. 16.

Gophers blow lead, rally for one-point win over Arcadia

MOUNT VICTORY — After controlling the first half behind the play of Trevor Stover and Cade McKinley, Ridgemont needed a late game-winning shot and a key defensive stop to grab a 45-44 nonconference boys basketball victory over Arcadia on Saturday. “More gray hair and more lost hair, that’s for sure,” Ridgemont coach Nick Stuck said.
