With wind chills barely edging above zero, students from Ohio Northern University dove into the frigid waters of a campus pond to raise money for the American Red Cross.

Participants for the twenty-fourth annual Hardin Leadership class, a program designed for the development of informed and effective community leaders, are being recruited now until March. Hardin Leadership is sponsored and conducted by the Hardin Leadership Steering Committee.

Good second quarter lifts Polar Bears to home victory

DOLA — Hardin Northern boys basketball coach Craig Hershey felt confident that if his team played well, they’d win the game against Monclova Christian Academy Friday night. They did play well enough to pick up the 66-55 victory, but it wasn’t without some push-back as the Polar Bears were outscored 39-33 in the second half after leading 32-16 at halftime.

Curtis, Dye combine for key run in Hardin Northern’s win

DOLA — On senior night for the Hardin Northern girls basketball team Friday, it was one of four seniors and a freshman that provided the spark for a game-changing run. Senior Micheala Curtis and freshman Ashton Dye combined to score 11 straight points in the final minute of the second quarter and the first minute of the third quarter to turn a two-point advantage into a 28-15 lead.

Northwestern edges Ben Logan, 54-49

SPRINGFIELD — Northwestern overcame a halftime deficit to tie the game after three quarters and outscored Ben Logan over final eight minutes to grab a 54-49 victory in Central Buckeye Conference boys basketball Friday night.
