Kenton didn’t have the numbers on the wrestling team this season that first-year coach Ryan Morgan was hoping for, but the Wildcats did a lot with what they had. Kenton started the season with eight wrestlers on the team and four of them will be competing in the district tournament, which starts today at Fostoria High School.

CANTON — Kenton senior Mo Gray advanced to the state finals in the 100-yard breaststroke based on her performance in Thursday’s preliminary race. The final race takes place tonight at the C.T. Branin Natatorium in Canton.

ADA — The Hardin County Chamber and Business Alliance paid tribute to one of its own at its tenth annual membership dinner when it named John Hohn its Citizen of the Year. The Alliance honored individuals, businesses and organizations Monday evening at a sold-out program at Ohio Northern University’s McIntosh Center in Ada.

With death all around him, Theo Makombe found himself running in circles. The year was 1994 and Makombe was 14 years old, living in a “small town” in Rwanda. The peace of the village was shattered when members of the Hutu tribe, with the assistance of the military, attempted to destroy the Tutsi tribe.

MOUNT VICTORY — The Ridgemont Board of Education approved an instructional audit of the district at its meeting Thursday night. AdvantaCore School Improvement Solutions will conduct the audit at a cost of $12,000 through Title I grant money, said Superintendent Emmy Beeson.

A memorial service to celebrate the life of Robert V. “Bob” McCaughin will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Grace Lutheran Church in Kenton by Pastor Ken Engdahl. He died at 1:40 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 24, 2016 at his residence.

Angela M. Newland, Lima, reported that the front window of her home at 802 S. Main St. was damaged. An accident was reported at Walnut and Detroit streets.

The Hardin County Sheriff’s Office is requesting the public’s help in locating Hardin County resident Toni L. Schorr, 57, of rural Kenton. She was last seen Wednesday evening at her home at County Road 210 in McDonald Township. Schorr reportedly left her residence on foot and the sheriff’s office has been unable to locate her since.
